Developing a tracking system for environmental public health is a challenging task. It requires an understanding of the system that is to be tracked, as well as development of information technologies and data sources. Some of our work has focused on conceptual frameworks and approaches for tracking relevant to environmental public health.
A manuscript currently available as a preprint from Environmental Health Perspectives describes ways to better integrate research and knowledge, surveillance, and practice in the tracking initiative. A PDF file of the preprint is available at: http://www.ehponline.org/members/2006/8735/8735.pdf.
